In 2021, the Universityof Continuing Education Krems presented an award for the first time for outstanding projects in teaching and research that are particularly dedicated to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This increases the visibility of these projects and underlines their importance.

At the first internal Impactathon Award of the University of Continuing Education Krems, the Department of Building and Environment was able to secure both main prizes - in the categories "Research" and "Teaching". Of a total of 17 submissions, nine were projects from the Department of Building and Environment. The success shows how committed the team is to the goals of sustainable development in teaching and research. The award ceremony took place on 13 October 2021 at the University for Continuing Education Krems.

In the "Research" category, Tania Berger, head of the Social Space-Oriented Building Research Cluster, and her team won the main prize with the project "Building Resilient Urban Communities (BReUCom)".
